Lodging
Rooms and cabins
Canaan Valley Resort is part of Canaan Valley StatePark, and is owned by the state of West Virginia. It has 225 rooms. As of March 20th there were still 50 rooms available (sorry, all cabins are sold out). We have had reports of people being told there were no rooms available when they called for reservations. The problem seems to be related to a remote answering service that takes reservations in the evenings. Call during the day, to avoid any problems. For our rally the resort requires a three day minimum (Thurs, Fri, Sat) They also offer reduced rates for those coming directly from the MOA national rally. 1-800-622-4121
You can also make reservations on-line: canaanresort.com
Lodge rooms (still available)
Rooms are going fast so reserve your rooms now! This block of rooms will be released on June 1, 2009 to the general public.

Cabins (all sold out!)
Timberline
Timberline Ski area is about two miles away, and has a huge number of rental units, especially for people traveling in groups. They have an extensive website, and offer a 10% discount for BMW rally goers. I quickly browsed their website and found a unit that sleeps 8 with a hot tub for around $500 for three days, which seems very reasonable. I believe all their rentals require a minimum 3 day booking.

There are also more traditional motels in Davis and Thomas, 10 to 12 miles north of the rally. A full list of them can be found at the Tucker County Visitor's Bureau website.

There are a few very nice luxury cabins a few miles south of the rally site at the Golden Anchor. They sleep 2 to 6 people goldenanchorcabins.com 304-866-2722
I would also consider Blackwater Falls State Park. It is 12 miles north of the rally. It is similar to Canaan Valley Resort in that it too is owned by the state of WV. Long ago, Blackwater Falls used to be the biggest tourist site in the state, and was a favorite of honey-mooners. They rent both rooms and cabins, and have a tent and trailer campground.
