30 days to the rally! As the RA approaches its fortieth year, thought you just might enjoy excerpts that have graced past issues of OTL. Imagine the magazine named the “BM Burbles” as suggested by one contestant. Did you know the average age of the BMW buyer in 1972 was 34 years old. These are reprinted exactly as they appeared in the magazine. As the saying goes “we’ve come a long way baby”.

Stay tuned. We'll post one a day until the rally.

Apparently you aren't quite used to living in the past. The R69S/US (unless modified) uses a magneto ignition system. The bike doesn't need a battery to get you on your merry way. Certainly lack of a working battery is not a good reason to leave the poor bike alone. Someone who knows better may stick a twig in the ignition (assuming you bothered taking the key with you) and ride your baby away.

Is anyone thinking about going the RA rally in June 2012 from the VA-MD-PA-DE-NY-other east coast region?

A couple of possibilities are available to me so I'm posting.

Ride out....

Trailer out......(I've got a MC trailer and Tundra crew max truck) and take one or two other bikes and or travelers with me....

Piggy back on someone else's trailer and contribute to costs and/or driving......

Ship out and back.

Any interested parties?
