AFAIK, negotiations are still in progress and an announcement will not be made until a contract is signed. Stay tuned for further info.

I might be wrong to talk about the other club but:

If you check out their forum - http://www.bmwmoa.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27896 - you will read yet another year of the same complaints. No rally can be perfect but the sheer size of the MOA rally makes it so much harder. It's just near impossible to feed and shower thousands of people without a lot of waiting. Not to mention price gouging. Plus the site requirements eliminates a lot of rural America.

It reminds me why I love the RA rally (when it's in the fall). ;)

We live on an island and live off the tourist trade in the summer. Anything past Labor Day works for us both.

Agreed. The MOA rally is too big for me. Having said that, considering the size, they do a very good job kinda like the GWRRA rallies.

The MOA Raly in 2009 is in Gray Tennessee. It's pretty darn rural (I live 60 miles away). I think the only way it got to be in such a rural area is because it is near the NA$CAR track in Bristol, TN. They figure if the area can handle 160,000 race fans twice a year, they should be able to handle 10,000 or so attendees at a motorcycle rally.

The response since the announcement of the 2009 rally has been very positive where it was very negative at the 2008 rally location in Gillette.

That part of TN is beautiful and there is also much more in the way of facilities than in Gillette. Have you head how Gillette happened to be selected? I remember the rally in Missoula 10 or 12 years ago which was wonderful.
